Qualifications

• 0–2 years admissions, customer service and/or public relations experience required.
• 1–2 years experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients accurately in the registration system and obtains consent signatures.
• Verifies insurance coverage and codes for billing.
• Explains legal and financial documents (ABNs) to patients and families as required.
• Counsels self-pay patients on costs, payment options, and available resources.
• Secures and logs patient valuables upon admission.
• Places identification armbands on patients for identification and safety.
• Reads physician orders to determine appropriate registration steps.
• Alerts departments or physicians of arrivals and follows up on delays.
• Assists with bed assignments for inpatients and coordinates with nursing staff.
• Operates a multi-line telephone system and relays messages promptly.
• Supports facility emergency plans and maintains compliance with policies.
