You will operate the hospital's communications system, maintain records, assist patients with directions and transportation, manage charts and payments, and perform cashier duties as part of a busy front-desk team.

Qualifications

• Must understand ICD-10 and CPT codes as pertains to billing.
• Ability to operate routine office machines and communications equipment.

Responsibilities

• Serves as general receptionist for the hospital, greeting patients and visitors in person or by phone in a courteous manner.
• Provides general information concerning the hospital and/or patient's condition per guidelines; secures signatures on documents when required.
• Operates the communications system placing and answering telephone calls, paging staff, and keeping records.
• Determines patient needs by admitting to hospital or referring to appropriate facility and escorts patient to proper area or arranges transportation.
• Maintains an inpatient roster and admission/discharge reporting; maintains elective admission schedule and contacts patients when rooms are available.
• Prepares records relating to admission, payment, and discharge of patients.
• Pulls patient charts, maintains appointment schedules, handles money, and custody of hospital keys as required.
• Assists patients in and out of vehicles.
• Operates various office equipment.
• Performs cashier duties and issues receipts.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
