Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–6 months on-the-job training to attain proficiency.
• Typing speed of 30 words per minute required.
• Experience dealing with the public is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in person or by phone as a general receptionist.
• Provide information about the hospital and patient status per guidelines and secure signatures as needed.
• Operate the telephone system, paging, and communications, and keep records.
• Determine patient needs and direct or escort to appropriate areas or arrange transportation.
• Maintain inpatient roster, admissions/discharges, and elective admission schedule; contact patients when rooms are available.
• Prepare records related to admission, payment, and discharge; pull patient charts; maintain appointment schedules; perform cashier duties and receipts.
