Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a daytime unit receptionist to support patient care operations. You will greet patients, manage calls, relay messages, and assist with charting and order entry in a fast-paced hospital unit.

The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple priorities while communicating effectively with staff, patients, and families. This is a non-exempt, full-time position supporting a 7-day schedule on a day shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–12 months of related office/clerical experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as unit receptionist, direct patients, visitors and others.
• Answer telephone and intercom; relay messages.
• Transcribe physician orders and enter into entry system.
• Maintain patient charts and kardexes; file lab and radiology reports.
• Schedule patients for consults and diagnostic/therapeutic services.
• Arrange patient transportation and ensure preparation of charts and rooms.
• Maintain census with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Enter, maintain, and retrieve computer information; order equipment and supplies.
• Keep the unit log and provide supply/dispatch support as needed.
• Adhere to departmental policies and participate in quality and safety initiatives.
