Job summary

Dayton Children's Hospital is seeking a patient access professional to support the Emergency Department team. This full-time role involves mentoring staff, coordinating with internal and external customers, and upholding patient access standards to ensure smooth pre-registration and scheduling.

You will float across Main ED, South ED and Huber Heights locations, with a flexible schedule and focus on process improvement, de-escalation techniques, and delivering exceptional patient experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associates degree preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in patient access or large hospital front office.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, insurance and compliance requirements.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in customer service and data collection processes.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and coach point-of-service staff for patient access.
• Assist supervisor/manager in developing methods to improve processes (pre-registration, registration, denial prevention).
• Support optimization of registration, pre-registration, pre-service estimate and point-of-service collections for optimal patient experiences.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and cross-department communication.
