Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Minneapolis is seeking a Patient Access Representative Associate to greet patients, collect demographic and insurance data, and guide them through registration. You will verify eligibility, discuss costs, and direct patients to appointments.

The role includes handling financial assistance processes, scheduling add-ons, and entering information into the EMR while delivering quality customer service in a fast-paced health care setting.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service experience in healthcare, retail, food service, bank/office settings or call center.
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday - Friday for the first 3 weeks after hire in alignment with the training schedule.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patient in person
• Collects demographic and insurance information
• Checks in and interviews patients to complete appropriate paperwork
• Directs patient to their appointment or procedure
• May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
• Documents issues and resolutions in the electronic medical record
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers
• Obtains cost information and explains it to patient
• Collects co-pays or deductibles and explains financial assistance options
• Screens and approves patients for financial assistance programs
