Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Patient Access Representative Associate at United Hospital in Saint Paul, MN. You will be the first contact for patients, guiding them through registrations, cost discussions, and scheduling while supporting health equity efforts.

The role includes a 72-hour bi-weekly schedule with day shifts, a $1,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants, and opportunities to mentor colleagues in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service experience.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday–Friday, with training shift alignment.
• Ability to work day shifts 8-hour, including mornings, and every other weekend/holiday rotation.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patients in person, directing them to appointments and procedures.
• Collects and verifies demographic, insurance, and benefits information.
• Checks in and interviews patients to complete required paperwork.
• Obtains and explains cost information, collects co-pays, and counsels on financial assistance.
• Addresses claim issues or registration errors and documents resolutions.
• Uses tools to complete registration for accounts and work queues.
• Provides customer service for inbound and outbound calls and resolves inquiries.
• Assists in scheduling add-on appointments as needed.
• May mentor staff and gather medical record information as needed.
• Support the dynamic needs of the healthcare environment with flexibility.
