Job summary

Ascension DePaul Services is seeking a Patient Access Representative for the St. Gabriel/Baton Rouge area.

You will greet the public, schedule appointments, maintain medical records and assist with admissions and discharge within the Medical Department. Responsibilities include data entry into the electronic health record, verifying insurance at the time of service, guiding patients to the patient portal and collecting payments as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a health care business office.
• 3 years of cash handling or payment posting experience.
• Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in a diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Greet the public and schedule appointments.
• Maintain patient records and data entry into EHR.
• Verify insurance at time of service and educate on patient portal.
• Receive and route incoming calls and coordinate appointments.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and rights.
