Job summary

Self Regional Healthcare Inc. in Greenwood, SC is seeking a Clerical Patient Access Specialist for full-time, 8:30am-7:00pm, Monday through Friday.

You will handle scheduling, pre-certification, benefit verification and patient interviews for inpatient, outpatient and ER admissions. You will enter demographic and financial data into EPIC accurately, explain policies and collect required signatures, and coordinate with physicians and staff to ensure smooth registration and appropriate

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
General knowledge and experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
Strong Customer service experience.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Working knowledge of medical terminology ICD-10 and CPT Coding.
Ability to build productive internal and external working relationships.
Basic analytical skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle challenging customers in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduling, pre-certification, benefit verification and related tasks.
Interview patients and guarantors for registration.
Explain hospital policies and financial responsibilities and obtain signatures.
Enter demographic and financial data in EPIC accurately and timely.
Obtain pre-certification/authorization as required by insurers.
Determine estimated patient financial responsibility based on verified benefits.
Coordinate communication with physicians and staff to ensure proper scheduling.
Handle other duties as assigned by management.
