Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Data entry and PC experience
• Medical terminology coursework or knowledge
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of age-specific patient care requirements

Responsibilities

• Register/pre-register and admit patients accurately; verify active insurance when registering ED patients.
• Screen and assist patients for financial assistance options (Medicaid/Charity).
• Generate patient estimates and collect copays; explain payment options and post payments.
• Conduct medical necessity screening and obtain required signatures.
• Complete required forms (HIPAA, consent, notices) and document in systems.
• Perform QA on accounts and support department training as needed.
• Gather data to schedule patient appointments.
• Handle third-shift ER discharge responsibilities when needed.
• Stay informed on regulations affecting hospital collections and receivables.
• Act as liaison with patients/families, explain procedures and policies.
• Participate in staff training and mentoring to maintain skills.
• Problem solve and assist all customer groups as needed.
• Perform duties in line with BVHS mission and values.
