Job summary

Temecula Valley Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to manage patient registrations, verify insurance coverage, and ensure accurate demographic and financial information. This role requires clear communication, attention to detail, and professional interaction with physicians, patients, and staff.

Responsibilities include correcting insurance coding, processing status transfers, and obtaining notifications, authorizations, and verification of benefits for all applicable accounts.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and non-verbally.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact diplomatically and to maintain a professional demeanor with physicians, the public and hospital staff at all times.
• Ability to discuss personal and financial matters with patients and/or their representatives.
• Good problem solving and process efficiency skills.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits, covered services and collection procedures for all insurance programs for acute facilities.
• General knowledge of office procedures and ability to utilize resources in an organized manner.
• Type 35-40 words per minute.
• Knowledge of computer keyboard.

Responsibilities

• Obtain accurate demographic and financial information during registration.
• Correct selection of insurance coding and descriptions using internal tools.
• Complete status transfers and verify benefits for accounts/insurances.
• Ensure correct room placement for patients and run HDX reports on insurances.
