Job summary

Temecula Valley Hospital, part of Southwest Healthcare, seeks a Patient Access Coordinator to ensure accurate registration of patient demographics and financial information. The role includes correct insurance coding, processing HDX reports, and obtaining necessary authorizations for insurances.

The candidate should have knowledge of medical terminology, strong communication, and interpersonal skills, with at least one year in hospital admitting or medical business office; CPI certification

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and non-verbally.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, able to interact diplomatically with physicians, the public and staff.
• Ability to discuss personal and financial matters with patients or their representatives.
• Good problem solving and process efficiency skills.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits, covered services and collection procedures for all insurance programs for acute facilities.
• General knowledge of office procedures and ability to stay organized.
• Type 35-40 words per minute.
• Knowledge of computer keyboard.

Responsibilities

• Obtain accurate demographic and financial information during registration.
• Ensure correct room placement for patients and process HDX reports for insurances.
• Corrects insurance coding and descriptions using tools like Rolodex, internet, and matrixes.
• Obtain notifications, authorizations, verification of benefits for all accounts/insurances.
