Job summary

Neighborhood Health is seeking a Medical Front Desk Representative in Merrifield, VA. You will greet patients, register them in the EMR, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and provide excellent customer service to support primary care access for diverse populations.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in medical office administration, strong communication, and familiarity with medical terminology. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; on-site role with opportunities to collaborate across clinics.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in customer service or administrative work in medical office settings
• Ability to relate to patients using medical terminology
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain good customer rapport
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with a diverse workforce and client base

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, families, and visitors in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner
• Utilizes the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to register new patients and update information
• Provides patient forms and ensures all required fields are completed
• Answers telephones promptly and maintains coverage of lines
• Verifies patient eligibility and insurance prior to visits
• Collects co-pays or deductibles per policy and issues receipts
• Provides excellent customer service and handles complaints or escalates when needed
• Acts as liaison for patients and staff regarding mobile applications and Neighborhood Health services
• Maintains waiting areas and front-desk areas in an organized, welcoming manner
• Attends staff meetings and adheres to policies and procedures
• Maintains confidentiality of patient records (HIPAA)
• May be assigned to various projects or other locations
• Able to work under minimal supervision
