Job summary

Qualifications

• 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency required.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal and communication skills with professional telephone etiquette.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in stressful environments including trauma or life-or-death situations.
• Demonstrates high empathy and communicates well with patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients by collecting demographics and insurance information.
• Verifies insurance benefits and collects patient financial responsibilities.
• Cross-trains across all assigned areas and mentors peers.
• Interacts with other departments to communicate patient delays and schedule changes.
• Verifies patient eligibility for insurance and calculates patient liability per policies.
• Negotiates payment arrangements and follows policy for deposits and carries out related duties.
• Assists patients to nursing units and provides directions or mobility assistance as needed.
• Ensures compliance with order validation, cash policy, government payor and patient safety standards.
