Qualifications

• 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency required.
• Good listening, interpersonal and communication skills with professional telephone etiquette.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in stressful environments including sensitive patient situations.
• High empathy and strong communication with patients and families during trauma while delivering excellent customer service.
• Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities in an organized manner.
• Excellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigational skills.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Conducts patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification, and billing.
• Knows patient flow processes in each area.
• Identify process improvements to enhance revenue cycle functions and patient experience.
• Interact with other areas to provide information on delays and schedule changes.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect patient liability per policy, including deposits and payment arrangements.
• May perform cashiering duties following policies and procedures.
• Assist patients to nursing units with directions or mobility assistance and escalate issues when needed.
• Adhere to compliance for order validation, cash policy, government payors, and patient safety requirements.
• Conduct formal, documented training and serve as a resource to others.
• Accept new responsibilities as assigned by leadership and perform revenue cycle duties at multiple locations.
