Job summary

Tenet Healthcare’s Conifer Health unit at Brookwood Medical Center seeks a Patient Access representative to support department efficiency. You will greet patients, register at the point of service, explain consent forms, and securely handle PHI while coordinating scheduling and post-discharge steps.

You will educate patients on financial liabilities, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and ensure accurate cash handling in a fast-paced hospital environment. Two access areas may be involved.

Qualifications

• Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of PC/CRT/printer.
• Knowledge of function and relationships within a hospital environment preferred.
• Customer service skills and experience.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications.
• Understanding of Third Party Payor requirements preferred.
• Understanding of Compliance standards preferred.
• Must be able to perform essential job duties in at least two Patient Access service areas including Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and complete full patient registration at date of service.
• Explain and secure Hospital & patient legal forms; scan PHI and prepare information packets.
• Educate patients about financial liabilities and collect payments per policies.
• Verify insurance and obtain authorizations for scheduled and unscheduled services; coordinate post-discharge care.
