Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Part-time Representative I, Patient Access for day shifts. The role focuses on obtaining and verifying demographic and financial information before or during patient registration and ensuring accuracy and privacy throughout the process.

Responsibilities include delivering excellent customer service to patients and staff, communicating insurance details to relevant teams, and, when needed, entering lab or radiology orders while maintaining

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Fluency in English and Spanish preferred; Spanish may be required in some settings.
• Hospital/healthcare registration or billing experience preferred.
• Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office and email.
• Typing speed 45 wpm or higher required.
• Excellent telephone customer service and strong interpersonal skills.
• Able to stand for long periods and assist patients, including wheelchair transport.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, physician offices, third-party payers and coworkers.
• Communicate financial/insurance information to case management and financial counseling; complete managed care notifications.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per privacy and security policies.
• May enter laboratory and radiology orders when needed.
• Assess patient financial status and collect signatures and payments prior to or at service time to minimize financial risk.
