Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Patient Access Coordinator for the Ambulatory Department. You will register patients, enter data, and ensure accurate appointment information in the hospital system.

You will liaison between patients, financial counselors and patient accounting, retrieve medical records, handle referrals, obtain prior authorizations when needed, and perform charge capture for outpatient visits, while answering calls across multiple lines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations preferred.
• Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients in outpatient clinic and enter data in the hospital system.
• Maintain data quality and accuracy for appointments.
• Act as liaison between patients, financial counselors and patient accounting and 4 clinical areas.
• Retrieve and send medical records needed for visits and referrals.
• Process incoming referrals and obtain prior authorizations when needed.
• Handle charge capture for outpatient appointments; answer calls on multiple lines.
