Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years Customer service experience required.
• 1-2 years Patient registration experience preferred.
• 1-2 years Hospital experience or healthcare setting preferred.
• CHAA - Certified Healthcare Access Associate certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the achievement of department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, quality and safety standards.
• Receives and answers telephone calls. Schedules, reschedules and confirms patient appointments.
• Creates encounters and obtains patient information for requested services as directed by the clinical department and location of services.
• Greet patients and review information upon arrival.
• Collects and captures accurate patient demographic and insurance information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility by EHR software, telephone or internet websites.
• Informs patients of payment options including payment plans and financial assistance programs.
• Requests, collects documents and communicates payment requirements for co-pays and deductibles.
• Complies with patient identification and hand-off procedures.
• Attends required system Patient Access monthly and annual meetings.
