Job summary

The Patient Access Technician (PAT) at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane is an intermediate-level clerical role focused on accurate patient admissions and registration. This position is part of a team that supports a busy hospital environment with 12-hour shifts, FTE: .01, and a variable schedule designed to meet patient flow.

You will verify demographic and insurance information, perform eligibility checks, and coordinate with the Financial Counselor when needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Billing & Insurance.
• One year of experience performing admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties; healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to policy and regulatory requirements.
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admissions, including arm banding and forms.
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients.
• Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation to notify other areas.
• Conduct bedside or telephone interviews to obtain demographic, insurance and third-party information.
• Perform eligibility verification and resolve discrepancies; refer to Financial Counselor as needed.
