Job summary

Grande Ronde Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to greet and register patients, verify insurance, and coordinate admissions and appointments. The role emphasizes accurate data entry in the MPI and EHR, with attention to privacy and compliance under EMTALA/HIPAA rules.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and experience in healthcare or customer service is preferred. Availability for varied shifts in a 24/7 department is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification strongly recommended.
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately in the EHR via MPI and pre-register for services.
• Verify insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations before services.
• Document and collect payments when applicable and record financial conversations in the EHR.
• Ensure EMTALA, HIPAA, CMS, and hospital policies are followed.
• Greet patients, provide directions, and assist with department workflow.
• Respond to calls and emergencies and support on-call providers.
