Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists (NWOS) in Spokane, WA, is seeking a Patient Service Representative to join our front desk team. You will be the first point of contact for patients, handling registration, insurance verification, payments, and coordinating with providers to ensure smooth daily operations.

This role requires a high school diploma and strong customer service, with knowledge of medical terminology and EHR systems preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous medical office or customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance, and EHR systems preferred.
• Strong customer service, organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Greets and checks patients in and out while providing exceptional customer service.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for patients at the front desk, creating a welcoming and professional environment.
• Verifies patient demographics, insurance eligibility, referrals, and authorizations prior to appointments.
• Completes patient registration by updating demographic information, obtaining copies of identification and insurance cards, and capturing patient photographs as required.
• Collects co-payments and outstanding patient balances at the time of service.
• Prepares patient charts and ensures all required documentation is complete before appointments.
• Communicates appointment follow-up instructions and assists patients with questions regarding their visit.
• Maintains accurate patient records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.
• Utilizes Practice Management and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to support daily clinic operations.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and professional reception area.
• Floats to other clinic locations as needed to support business operations.
• Communicates workflow concerns and operational issues to leadership and performs other duties as assigned.
