Job summary

Mercy Health's Mercy Allen Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to perform admitting duties for all patients and support compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include accurate MRN assignment, insurance verification, POS collections, handling patient education, and processing physician orders, with a patient‑centered service mindset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-year/Associate degree preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and CPT codes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assign MRNs and perform medical necessity checks while delivering excellent service.
• Verify insurance and collect patient information for POS and billing.
• Explain consent forms and provide patient education documents.
• Pre-register patients and handle phone calls and order processing.
• Audit accounts for accuracy and assist leadership with data reporting.
