Job summary

Mercy Hospital Jefferson - Emergency Department is seeking a Patient Access Representative to facilitate patient entry, scheduling, registration, verification of benefits and financial clearance. The role emphasizes accuracy in data capture and knowledge of insurance processes while upholding Mercy Service Standards.

The position offers PRN/Eveings coverage with premium pay in the ED and evening differential eligibility, complemented by a focus on compassionate, patient-centered service.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Experience: 1-3 years clerical experience preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all components of patient entrance into Mercy facilities, including scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance.
• Ensure the most accurate patient data is obtained and populated into the patient record.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and relevant agencies; mentor peers in Patient Access.
