Job summary

Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative to serve as the first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring accurate registration for Emergency Department, inpatient, outpatient, and surgical services. Strong data entry accuracy and professionalism are essential.

EPIC experience is highly preferred; knowledge of health insurance concepts is a plus. Minimum 1 year in a medical or customer service setting and a high school diploma are required.

• 1+ years of experience in medical office, hospital, medical call center or other customer service environment.
• EPIC experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring accurate and efficient patient registration
• Accurately register patients for Emergency Department, Inpatient, Outpatient, Surgical, and Specialty Services
• Gather necessary data, enter appropriate data into computer-Epic, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and appropriately signed by patient in order to register and admit patient for inpatient or outpatient services.
• Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility, obtain required authorizations and signatures, collect applicable payments, and maintain compliance
• Provide patients with information on physicians, directions to locations, required pre-testing, educational materials, and any other items prior to service
