Job summary

R1 RCM is hiring a Patient Access Representative for the Clyde, NC location. The role is on-site with 12-hour night shifts and alternating weekends, focused on fast, compassionate patient check-in and insurance verification within hospital settings.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, helping them access care efficiently while coordinating with clinical teams and navigating diverse insurance plans. Training is provided and opportunities for growth exist within R1.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass background check, drug test, and vaccination requirements.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and assist patients and families with check-in across multiple computer systems to register efficiently.
• Answer phones and collect accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Support timely access to care by minimizing delays in registration and answering questions with confidence and compassion.
• Build trust with patients during moments of illness, anxiety, or confusion.
• Navigate diverse insurance plans, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and provide cost estimates when applicable.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and care teams to ensure smooth patient flow.
