Job summary

UTHealth Houston's Department of Colorectal Surgery in Southeast Houston is seeking a Patient Access Rep to join the team. The role involves verifying eligibility, posting payments, and collecting patient information with a focus on medical necessity compliance.

Preferred candidates are bilingual in English and Spanish and may have previous EPIC experience. This position supports patient access operations and interacts with physicians, care management, and insurance companies to ensure accurate

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in a hospital or medical business office setting required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or guarantor.
• Enter information in computer system with a high degree of accuracy.
• May schedule patient appointments and enter required information in the system.
• Explain forms to patient or guarantor and obtain signatures.
• Verify eligibility and ensure medical necessity compliance.
• Post payments in the system and generate receipts.
• Provide clear communication with patients and staff across departments.
