This role is the first point of contact for patients and visitors, focusing on smooth registration, appointment coordination, insurance validation, and payment collection to support a positive care experience. You’ll work with care teams to collect and verify demographic and insurance information, greet guests professionally, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months–1 year of related experience.
  • Formal education beyond high school in Business or Healthcare, or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare business office or receptionist environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
  • Excellent computer and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with internet-based tools, email, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments according to provider criteria and established scheduling templates.
  • Complete pre-arrival registration and ensure patient information, questionnaires, and required documentation are accurate and complete.
  • Greet, direct, and assist patients, families, visitors, providers, and other members of the healthcare team in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out functions, including completing missing registration and insurance information.
  • Accurately verify and update patient demographic, guarantor, and insurance information using established registration standards.
  • Collect applicable copayments, patient balances, prepayments, and self-pay payments for services.
  • Take telephone and in-person messages and appropriately route communications through the healthcare software and patient portal to facilitate timely communication with clinical teams.

What You’ll Do

As a Patient Access Specialist, you’ll be an essential first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors. What We’re Looking For

Pay & Differentials


  • $17.00-$25.25 per hour, based on experience
