Job summary

Optum is seeking a Patient Access Representative to provide patient-oriented service in a clinical/front office setting. You will greet and check in patients, collect co-pays, process paperwork, and use computer systems to verify insurance and schedule services.

Training spans 4 weeks with 8:00-16:30 or 7:00-15:30 shifts, Monday to Friday. The role is fully onsite at the Phoenix location, with opportunities to advance within the organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service experience in hospital/office/phone support settings.
• Ability to work 100% onsite at 350 W. Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ.
• Ability to work 8:30am - 5:00pm, Mon - Fri; training period schedule may vary.

Responsibilities

• Register patients by collecting demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility/benefits.
• Enter and verify patient data in computer systems in real-time.
• Process referrals, pre-certifications, pre-determinations, and pre-authorizations as required by plan.
• Verify insurance coverage and create price estimates; re-verifications as needed.
• Collect patient co-pays and discuss financial obligations.
• Identify outstanding balances and attempt collection.
• Schedule patient services with provider offices prior to discharge.
• Respond to patient/caregiver inquiries with empathy and respect.
• Generate and analyze patient data reports and follow up on inconsistencies.
