Job summary

Cook Children’s Health Care System seeks a Patient Access Specialist I to provide access to services, facilitate the patient registration flow, and establish positive relationships with patients and families. This role does not provide patient care and may be performed in a patient care area.

Location is Medical Center - Fort Worth with Second Shift (United States of America) and Standard Weekly Hours are 20.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of Healthcare experience in a physician office or hospital setting.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Understanding of the revenue cycle and all appropriate financial resources for patients.
• Knowledge of JCAHO, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA, HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payers and all tasks performed in the various Patient Access Service areas.
• Detail oriented.
• Professional and clear communication.
• Working knowledge of computer skills.
• Basic understanding of insurance benefits especially in-network versus out of network and co‑insurance versus co‑pay.
• Basic ability to balance cash reports.
• Basic understanding of legal paperwork.
• Insurance experience preferred
