Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking a Patient Services Specialist I to support clinic operations and patient flow. Under close direction, you will perform standard clerical tasks such as registration, scheduling, and insurance processing to help maintain efficient service delivery.

You will obtain authorizations, review service requests, assist with benefits verification, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to balance patient care with cost containment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with data entry and insurance-related tasks is preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner and Epic is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous.
• Experience with pre-certification for insurance carriers is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating healthcare services to control costs, improve quality, and ensure efficient delivery.
• Obtaining authorization, Utilization management, compliance and patient/member support.
• Reviewing service requests and managing provider relationships to balance financial health with patient care.
• Screening pre-certification requests and assisting members with benefits.
• Handling day-to-day tasks like screening requests and clarifying benefits.
