Job summary

University Health KC is seeking a BH Registration & Scheduling Specialist for Lakewood. The role interviews patients and gathers demographic and financial data, and accesses clinical and financial systems.

You will schedule appointments via the electronic system, collect and verify insurance information, obtain pre-certifications, coordinate referrals to financial resources, and complete admission/registration paperwork. This position supports Behavioral Health services at UH Lakewood.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in clerical, patient contact, hospital business office or insurance; ability to interview patients and families and exchange information with hospital staff.
• Minimum of one year as a Patient Access & Scheduling Representative.
• Concise written communication and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain demographic and financial data and accesses hospital systems.
• Communicates health benefit regulations and patient financial obligation to responsible parties.
• Receives written and telephonic requests to schedule patient appointments via the scheduling system.
• Gathers and records financial and insurance information and coordinates referrals to resources.
• Validates information, obtains pre-certification and authorization for services, and collects co-pays; completes admission/registration paperwork.
