Job summary

Indiana University Health in Indianapolis is seeking an administrative scheduling professional for the Molecular Genetics Dpt. Day shift, M-F 8:00–4:30, no weekends or holidays.

You will focus on special scheduling for genetic testing, manage patient flow from entry to destination, and handle charges and payments while maintaining accurate records. Prior healthcare exposure and basic MS Office skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prefer relevant experience in a health care setting.
• Ability to learn and retain medical coding; ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
• Requires ability to interpret insurance information; knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Focus on special scheduling for genetic testing.
• Facilitates patient flow from point of entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
• Special scheduling for patients and including testing, imaging etc.
• Obtains specific information to generate an accurate financial and demographic record for patients that will ensure maximum reimbursement and clinical outcomes.
• Schedules appointments, interviews patients for appropriate medical information, explains charges and policies of the department/hospital, validates and enters charges into appropriate systems, and collects necessary payment.
• Front desk coverage as needed.
• Answers incoming calls and directs patients and visitors appropriately.
