Job summary

MedStar Health's National Rehabilitation Network is seeking an Access Specialist who will act as the first welcome for callers, registering patients, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with therapy staff across multiple sites.

This hybrid role requires on-site training in Rosedale, then two days per month in the office, with a focus on insurance verification, scheduling accuracy, and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• 2 years related experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
• 1-2 years telephonic call center or medical office scheduling experience.

Responsibilities

• Answers assigned extensions with the correct salutation and script.
• Greets and assists patients by triaging inquiries to appropriate team members.
• Completes preliminary intake and schedules appointments per insurance guidelines in PM/EHR/EMR systems.
• Demonstrates ability to use MedStar Health applications to assist callers.
• Performs insurance verification and coordinates authorizations, denials retrieval.
• Communicates duplicate medical record accounts for merging.
• Maintains scheduling protocol and meets daily call metrics and team goals.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams and training.
• Registers and schedules patients for physician clinics and coordinates schedules as needed.
