Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care System in Hermiston, OR is seeking a Patient Access Scheduling Representative to help ensure smooth daily operations and patient flow. Responsibilities include phone-based customer service, appointment scheduling, pre-registration, and insurance verification.

The role requires attention to detail, accurate data entry, and the ability to explain costs and collect co-pays. Prior hospital collection experience is preferred; bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years hospital collection experience preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient demographic and insurance information and enters it into the electronic patient record.
• Schedules, cancels, and reschedules all patient appointments.
• Completes pre-registration, verifies coverage, referral and medical record information at appointment time; provides verbal liability estimates and reminders.
• Takes messages by phone and ensures timely delivery.
• Scans in patient insurance benefits, liability, and authorization information into the EHR daily.
• Provides courteous and professional customer service via phone.
• Collects co-pay or co-insurance to appropriate accounts.
• Supports the hospital mission and participates in required education.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
