Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Accurate spelling and attention to detail required.
• Must be able to key 40 wpm.
• Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Registers or pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains necessary authorizations or referrals.
• Coordinates with patients and scheduling to reschedule procedures until authorization or payment is arranged; requests deposits when needed.
• Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes.
