Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a detail-oriented patient services clerk to support billing, scheduling, and insurance verification across the Medical Imaging of Fredericksburg locations.

The role includes greeting patients, collecting insurance information, obtaining pre-authorization data, and coordinating with physicians' offices to ensure timely care and accurate billing. Strong communication and clerical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years related experience in a call center, patient registration, patient accounts, or patient billing preferred.
• Basic computer skills and strong verbal and written communication required.
• Experience with third party insurance terminology, CPT, and ICD-9/10 codes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets all customers in a courteous and professional manner and supports customer service goals.
• Answers telephones courteously and transfers calls or takes messages as appropriate.
• Assists with patient financial matters and collects payments.
• Schedules tests and maintains scheduling accuracy.
• Maintains documentation for compliance; collects insurance cards and IDs.
• Obtains authorization information from insurances via their websites.
• Monitors scheduling work-lists for timely scheduling and verification.
• Provides patients and physicians with pre-procedure instructions and billing guidance.
• Communicates with insurance companies to determine benefits, co-pays, and pre-authorizations.
