Job summary

Adventist HealthCare seeks a skilled Patient Service Specialist for our AMG Scheduling Call Center to greet patients, schedule appointments, and verify insurance information. This role includes pre-registration, counseling on balances, and handling payments at the point of service.

The ideal candidate will have prior customer service and scheduling experience, familiarity with medical terminology, and proficiency with scheduling software. On-site position with daytime hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
• 3+ years in customer service.
• Experience in patient scheduling.
• Familiarity with medical insurance terminology.
• Typing speed around 30 wpm.
• Experience with a computerized scheduling system.
• Knowledge of IDX scheduling/registration is a plus.
• 2 years of office management in a physician/ambulatory setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct patients for appointments, tests, referrals and information.
• Schedule appointments and tests using the scheduling system; prepare notices and referrals.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance, and financial information.
• Perform pre-registration and collect demographic data and insurance details.
• Maintain accurate patient appointment history and records.
• Counsel patients on balances and anticipated costs; collect payments at visits.
• Print forms and reminders; support daily operations and inquiries.
• Coordinate with physicians and nursing staff to facilitate patient encounters.
