Qualifications

• HS/GED; Associates degree preferred.
• 1 year physician practice experience. Must have a minimum of one week training on-site which will be provided by practice.
• Experience in a medical office setting, utilizing a computer system for physician scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person and by telephone and update their insurance/demographic information in the practice management system.
• Gather registration and financial information for patient pre-registration, enter into the practice management system and ensure accuracy.
• Answer phones for the practice; schedule, re-schedule and cancel patient appointments based on established protocols.
• Contact patients at home to confirm scheduled and canceled appointments.
• Check in patients on arrival; verify demographics, complete financial screening, and coordinate insurance requirements.
• Ensure the patient has paid or collects the appropriate co-pay; provide receipt per cash-control protocols.
• May perform simple to moderately-complex charge entry or enter payments collected from patients.
• Facilitate prior authorization and scheduling for diagnostic testing requested by providers in EPIC.
• Review waiting room status and advise patients of wait times.
• Ensure prior approvals and procedures are met before delivery of care; collaborate with hospital departments.
• Reconcile daily patient schedule with encounters closed.
• Work billing edit reports and review encounters for corrections.
• Scan documents into EPIC daily.
• Provide feedback to Manager on issues in registration and posting.”
• Follow HIPAA and other regulatory requirements for PHI handling.
• Other duties as assigned.
