Responsibilities

  • Greets and registers patients and families in a timely, friendly manner.
  • Answers telephone calls, schedules appointments, and pulls and files medical charts as needed.
  • Obtains accurate demographic, insurance information during registrations.
  • Screens customer data to ensure patient eligibility for insurance and communicates differences.
  • Screens registrations to confirm insurance pre-certification and physician referrals; instructs customers on requirements.
  • Identifies self-pay patients and refers them to financial assistance when applicable.
  • Maintains open communication with departments and clinical staff involved in Patient Access.
  • Assists in shadowing/precepting new employees.
