Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking a detail-oriented Scheduling and Registration Clerk to support ambulatory clinics. You will check in/out patients, verify guarantor information, schedule and register appointments, and coordinate follow-up testing.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• State criminal background check and Federal check as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Checks in and checks out patients according to scheduling/registration guidelines.
• Obtains and verifies patient guarantor information annually and generates referrals if needed.
• Schedules and registers patients within clinic guidelines and medical appropriateness.
• Ensures follow-up appointments and testing are coordinated at checkout.
• Collects all necessary information from patients to schedule and register.
• Identifies scheduling modifications and communicates needs accordingly.
• Notifies staff of scheduling changes due to cancellations in a timely fashion.
• Responds to patient and staff needs within the patient care environment.
• Ensures written/electronic orders exist and handles documentation for outside orders.
• Collects time-of-service payments and copayments during check-in/out.
• Reconciles cash drawer at end of day and reports discrepancies.
• Collects signatures on waivers for managed care at point of check-in.
• Completes Workques and daily tasks in the scheduling area promptly.
• Responds to all patient communications in a timely manner.
