Job summary

Community Hospital Corporation seeks a Pre-Registration-Scheduler to support Patient Financial Services and Revenue Cycle operations. You will be the primary contact for patients and provider offices, ensuring efficient outpatient scheduling across Radiology, Surgery, Respiratory Therapy, and NTMC clinics while maintaining regulatory and financial compliance.

The role focuses on accurate data collection, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and coordinating centralized scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associates degree or higher is preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in Revenue Cycle, Patient Access or Centralized Scheduling in an acute care setting is preferred.
• Proficient use of medical terminology and health information systems (e.g., Medhost, Athena).
• Experience with digital intake systems (e.g., Simple Interact).
• Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to service.
• Certification as CHAM or CRCS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information prior to the date of service.
• Analyze and resolve live quality metrics by updating patient records in Medhost before encounter finalization.
• Maintain and use the Pre-registration-Scheduling worklist to track GFE status, authorization details, and provider notes.
• Create Patient Control Numbers only when the patient is ready to be scheduled.
• Coordinate patient intake and consent forms via digital platforms such as Simple Interact and reflect duplicates correctly.
• Conduct insurance verification and check automated responses within Medhost.
• Obtain prior authorizations and verify medical necessity for scheduled procedures.
• Collaborate with provider offices to correct orders or supply missing clinical documentation.
• Maintain knowledge of the current payor grid and new agreements.
• Coordinate scheduling for Radiology and Surgical procedures; manage outpatient testing schedules for Respiratory Therapy.
• Proactively contact patients with faxed orders to schedule appointments and reduce walk-ins.
• Monitor Turnaround Time from order receipt to final appointment.
• Follow No Surprises Act and regulatory protocols regarding GFEs for self-pay patients.
• Identify self-pay patients during scheduling and assess GFE requirements.
• Prioritize scheduling before transferring to financial counseling.
• Explain process to patients and staff to manage expectations about wait times and scheduling.
• Inform patients of insurance denials or medical necessity failures and offer alternatives.
