Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Patient Access / Registration specialist to obtain and verify patient insurance, handle scheduling, and collect co-pays and self-pay amounts. You will greet patients, verify IDs, and process pre-authorizations within Radiology workflows.

The role requires strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and prior experience in patient accounts or a call center. Work hours are Monday–Friday with daytime shifts in Frederickburg, VA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills required.
• Two (2) years related experience in a call center, patient registration, patient accounts, or patient billing preferred.
• Experience in third party insurance and insurance terminology, CPT, and ICD-9 codes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a courteous, professional manner and provide excellent service.
• Answer phones, screen calls, and transfer messages.
• Assist with patient financial matters and billing processing.
• Schedule imaging tests using scheduling software and ensure timely appointments.
• Maintain compliant records and gather insurance information and IDs.
• Obtain pre-authorization information from insurers and verify coverage.
• Communicate with insurance companies about benefits and required pre-authorizations.
• Monitor schedules and ensure smooth workflow across imaging sub-sections.
