Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Patient Scheduling Coordinator in Des Moines to manage complex multiservice scheduling, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and maintain EMR data with accuracy. You will greet patients, assist with forms, and coordinate with clinic staff for seamless access.

The role includes mentoring junior staff and contributing to process improvements to enhance scheduling efficiency and patient access in a regulated healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, or related field preferred.
• 3 years of customer service or healthcare experience required.
• 3 years front office experience including scheduling, check-in/out, insurance verification, and medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex scheduling and rescheduling of patient appointments, procedures, diagnostics, surgeries, admissions, and related appointments.
• Greet patients, check in, assist with forms, and resolve conflicts to ensure timely access.
• Coordinate with clinic staff to secure pre-certifications, insurance data, and financial information.
• Update EMR scheduling data, demographics, insurance, and procedure details for accuracy.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to scheduling process improvements.
