Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Intake Representative in New Jersey to support scheduling, enrollment, and insurance verification, ensuring smooth registration and billing processes. You will handle a high call volume, collect co-pays, and document interactions with insurance providers, patients, and referral sources, contributing to accurate reports and timely service.

Experience in a physician practice or hospital setting is preferred; excellent communication and computer

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year related work experience in a physician practice, hospital setting or directly related customer service setting.
• Good organizational skills; ability to set priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills; and ability to accept direction and perform multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Initiate patient intakes; schedule appointments; perform insurance screening/verification; patient registration.
• Handle a high volume of calls and inquiries; relay accurate information and take appropriate action.
• Obtain and document all pertinent information for scheduling, enrollment and insurance verification.
• Verify insurance on referrals and document interactions with insurance representatives, patients and others.
• Pre-register patients and collect insurance cards, prescriptions, referrals and other forms; update registration system.
• Communicate scheduling guidelines and inform patients of co-payments and payment responsibilities.
• Maintain department records, generate reports and assist with routine projects.
