Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, invites applications for a patient scheduling and registration role in the Southview department. This role supports scheduling prescribed procedures, gathers demographics and insurance information, and handles clerical duties at the UAB St.

Vincent’s Birmingham location. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with responsibilities to coordinate with patients and staff to optimize time and resources.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with patients, participants, and staff to accurately schedule patients for prescribed procedures.
• Perform clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration.
• Gather necessary demographic, insurance and clinical information from patients and enter into appropriate database.
• Schedule patient procedures to efficiently utilize the patient’s time and clinical resources; coordinate and communicate schedules.
• Assist with coordination of activities related to insurance pre-certification/authorization.
• Provide counseling to patients regarding pre-service requirements and instructions.
