Job summary

Cooper Green Mercy Health Services Authority is seeking a patient encounter specialist (PES) to perform front desk duties, register patients, collect co-pays, answer phones, and schedule appointments within the NextGen system.

The PES supports the billing department and upholds patient-centered care, aligning with CGMHSA policies and procedures. Onsite work with daily shift responsibilities and strong customer service expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree may substitute for part of experience requirement.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology; advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management.
• Excellent telephone and customer service skills; knowledge of English grammar and punctuation.

Responsibilities

• Reports to assigned clinic on time and demonstrates excellent customer service and Cooper Green core values.
• Verifies insurance and patient demographics; coordinates with Enrollment Department.
• Verifies patient demographic information during check-in is accurate and complete.
• Verifies patient address using USPS within Nextgen.
• Performs insurance verification for patients.
• Schedules return or follow-up appointments with NextGen data and notifies scheduler.
• Collects visit fees and balances; handles receipts and deposits.
