Job summary

Prism Vision Group's Schefkind Eye Care in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Patient Service Representative to handle inbound/outbound patient interactions, scheduling, registrations, and basic revenue-cycle tasks in an onsite role.

The PSR will verify insurance, collect payments, provide financial counseling, and ensure HIPAA compliance while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• 2+ years in a patient-facing healthcare or customer service role preferred.
• Excellent English communication; bilingual skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and complete full registration for patients requesting appointments with policy adherence.
• Initiate pre-registration and ensure demographic/insurance information is accurate and up to date.
• Verify insurance, benefits, and referrals as part of patient intake.
• Obtain legal ID and insurance cards and validate patient identity and coverage prior to services.
• Comply with HIPAA and protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Facilitate smooth patient flow through the clinical care process.
• Provide patients with appointment and payment policy details and documentation.
• Offer upfront financial counseling and discuss payment options.
• Advise patients of financial obligations and collect funds per guidelines.
• Act as liaison for patients, physicians, and staff to resolve issues.
• Notify scheduling/insurance requirements and refer to appropriate parties.
• Train other PSR staff and deliver excellent customer service.
• Comply with company policies and standards.
