Job summary

Halifax Health in Port Orange ED is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support scheduling, pre-registration and registration processes. You will verify demographics, insurance benefits, and coordinate with departments to ensure accurate and complete information for patient visits.

Role requires strong communication, confidentiality and customer service. EPIC EHR experience is preferred; high school diploma required with healthcare exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; higher degree preferred.
• Complete Revenue Cycle Orientation within 6 months of hire.
• Two years of related work experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Ability to verify demographic information and insurance benefits.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Customer-service oriented with strong communication with team members.
• EPIC EHR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient visits accurately and timely.
• Coordinate appointments with other departments.
• Answer phones and provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient charts and scheduling information.
• Pre-register patients and collect necessary information.
• Obtain authorizations/pre-certifications from third-party payers as needed.
• Collaborate with patients, staff, and departments for complete information.
• Enter patient data into the tracking system and verify orders.
• Assist with financial counseling and Medicaid/charity program applications.
• Guide patients through payment options and balance collection.
