Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Complete Revenue Cycle Orientation courses within 6 months of hire.
• Two years of related work experience preferred, preferably in healthcare or customer service.
• Ability to effectively communicate with individuals from varying backgrounds and obtain pertinent information.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and ability to verify demographics and insurance benefits.
• Must be able to operate office equipment (fax, printers, etc.).
• Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; customer-service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient visits, pre-registers, and registers for hospital services.
• Verifies insurance benefits, obtains authorizations, and documents information.
• Coordinates admission reservations and bed placement with nursing.
• Obtains eligibility and benefits information for inpatient and outpatient accounts.
• Explains financial policies and assists with payment arrangements.
